Heisei/Millennium Godzilla Cover Make-Overs (WIP)

Basic layout of SpaceGodzilla. The goal was to trick people into thinking this is a hell of a movie. I might remove Godzilla on the back though.

Gman, these are not bad man. What do you plan on for Godzilla vs Destroyah?

Not entirely sure. In fact I'm stuck on SpaceGodzilla because I'm not convinced that's the image that needs to be used for the back. Naturally I already have poster art and title font ready for Destoroyah though.

Looking forward to starting the Millennium movies soon after.

I'm also considering modifying them for DVD for those who have yet to upgrade to Bluray. The issue there though is that King Ghidorah/Mothra and SpaceGodzilla/Destoroyah are on those awful double-sided discs.

Made an account just to thank you for doing this service for Godzilla fans cause good lord the Biollante cover they sell it with is so pitiful. She looks defeated already on that cover for Godzilla's sake!

Not quite done. But it's getting there. I really wrestled with the back. I tried a lot of different images: MOGUERA, MOGUERA flying, Godzilla, Godzilla roaring, the city with the three monsters in battle...etc...etc... but going minimal ended up being the best route. I like the fact that Fukuoka Tower is an important visual center piece to the movie... despite how flawed its inclusion is. Hopefully I'll finish it soon.

Oh man it's good to see an update for this. All of these covers are miles ahead of any existing Blu-ray or DVD releases of the films. Of course, I am a sucker for Ohrai's poster artwork.

So am I, but I'm stuck on SpaceGodzilla. What I have is just not working. I might set it aside and work on Destoroyah for just a bit.

Gman, i don't find a damn thing wrong with that spacegodzilla cover. Looks just fine to me.

Hmm. I definitely think the Fukuoka Tower works well on the back cover. I might suggest adapting the original front cover image for TriStar's VHS and DVD cover/Sony's Blu-ray cover to fit that space on the back, but I'm not sure how well that would fit or if it would even look good.

^Yeah I've tried that, it didn't look all that appealing and really muddied up the blue-ish color scheme the cover has going for it. I may just enlarge SpaceGodzilla's face, omit the tower and call it a day-- But that option does look a little bare...

Is there any way to add a picture of SpaceGodzilla standing in front of a crystal-covered Fukuoka like this one? That one might work a little better, of course the quality and size of the image may be an issue.

^Yeah, I've been trying that and I like that idea a lot, but I want a night shot of him standing in Fukuoka and most of those shots I've found are of either poor quality or...terrible shots honestly.

I mean could that set look any more like a... well... set.

^The only night shots of decent quality I could think of at all from the movie are of SpaceGodzilla in space (with the uber-fake asteroids in the background) or M.O.G.U.E.R.A. in Fukuoka. All of the shots of SpaceG in Fukuoka are as you said pretty terrible.

I've decided to just go with this for the SpaceGodzilla cover. Anything I added just took away from the menacing face of SpaceGodzilla on the back and I got tired agonizing over the back cover of my least favorite Godzilla movie.

The appropriate specs, run time and credits have been added. I'm off to Destoroyah now. Once I've completed Destoroyah I will go over each one of them and make the full sized covers available for anyone that wishes to use them.

Then I'm off to do the Millennium series.

I'm late to this party, but did you ever finish the Godzilla vs. Destroyah cover? Your covers are amazing BTW!!

Thank you. Although I have not abandoned the project my displeasure with the Destoroyah cover has left it in limbo. However, I recently came upon an option that might change that so, I hope to work on it again soon.

Yes, I just never got around to posting it. The Millennium covers are probably half finished. Those have been much tougher to nail over the year.
