MemberMothra LarvaeJun-22-2014 6:48 AMIn the "Godzilla sequel monsters" thread, I've heard somebody (I forget his name) say that Destroyah would never fit in with Gareth Edwards' G-universe due to the lack of an Oxygen Destroyer. However, just as I came up with a modded origin for King Ghidorah without the whole alien backstory in my story treatment for the 1st sequel, I've come up with a new way to introduce Destroyah in a Godzilla sequel (namely the 3rd movie, or 4th if they decide to go that far) without the Oxygen Destroyer.
In the Godzilla Awakening graphic novel, there was a creature Godzilla fought called the Shinomura, a blue-scaled, dragon-like creature that, in a lot of ways, pays homage to Destroyah because he was also the combination of many smaller organisms. And as you all know, in the 2014 movie, it was revealed that the Japanese tried to kill Godzilla in 1954 with a nuke, but failed. However, the nuke injured him enough to leave some of his cells behind.
So, in further attempts to stop Godzilla, the Japanese tried to clone the Shinomura, except make them more powerful by creating a bunch of embryos in a lab containing Shinomura's DNA (that they obtained from his corpse, which is revealed to be the dead creature's bones in the cave at the beginning of the 1st movie) and Godzilla's cells for experimentation. However, a meltdown from a nuclear plant causes a highly-publicized viral outbreak that kills hundreds of thousands of people. Unknown to the general public, however, it also had one other deadly side effect: it caused the embryos containing the Shinomura DNA and Godzilla cells to mutate into the deadly crustaceans that would come to be known as Destroyah (or Destoroyah, whatever you wanna call him/them)! Basically, this would be the catalyst for his mutation in place of the Oxygen Destroyer in Edwards' universe.
So count that, he's the product (actually, more like the combination of products) of Shinomura DNA, Godzilla cells, and radiation from a highly lethal contagion that killed tons and tons of people (think T Virus from Resident Evil for comparison's sake, except it didn't turn the people into zombies, it just killed them outright), making him this insanely OP'ed freak of nature (just like the Oxygen Destroyer made the Toho version the most powerful monster in that realm). This is the new origin I was gonna use for Destroyah for my 2nd sequel treatment, or at least something to that effect. Long story short, he would basically be the end result of a freak accident gone wrong much like Doomsday. In fact, he was my inspiration for coming up with this new take on a Destroyah origin since he's like him in so many ways in that he's a be-all-end-all villain/creature.
