Time to rehash one of the oldest arguements in G-fan history, but this time I'm gonna do it a bit differently. You all can thank INSTINCTIVEGIGAN for inspiring me to use this format. Now its time to list the facts and let them fall where they may! Who is the Superior Godzilla?!

                                          THE CHALLENGERS

Showa Godzilla

Height: 50 Meters

Length: 100 Meters

Weight: 20,000 Tons

Powers and Abilities: Even as the earliest incarnation of the beast, this Godzilla was no push over. The monster was adept at hand to hand combat and was able to leap great distances despite his size. His jarring mobility was shown numerous times throughout the Showa era, taking fans by surprise as well as his enemies. In Godzilla vs Monster Zero, the king was able to pounce on KG with the speed of a facehugger on its prey. His tail was also a means of extraordinary feats as he was able to shoot himself forward on it in order to knock Megalon clean off his feat. As for Showa G's weaponry, his atomic breath could enable flight and his body became a magnet on a whim in order to trap Mecha Godzilla onto him. His durability was formidable as well as Godzilla was able to withstand prolonged battle against Hedora, a creature composed of toxic waste that was both acidic and poisonious. Godzilla has also tanked Mecha Godzilla's full aresnal of explosive weoponry and withstood projectile assualts from KG who was stated to be a planet cleanser for lack of a better word. Even though Godzilla was aided in fights from time to time the king could more than hold his own in battle. Taking this kaiju lightly would be a fatal mistake on the battlefield.

Heisei Godzilla

Height: 80-100 Meters

Length: 190-212.5 Meters

Weight: 50,000-60,000 Tons

Powers and Abilities: The second incarnation of the behemoth monster king, Heisei Godzilla was a monster, no pun intended. The design of the creature was made far more bulky and menacing than the former version of the king instilling a sense of his power in all who bore witness to his form. What this Godzilla lacked in graceful and majestic movement he more than made up for in strength, power, durability and calories. As with all the king of the monsters, this version of the title character has accomplished much, including but not limited to tanking city block attacks from his enemies, surviving Super X's anti nuclear cadmium missles down the throat area only to be temporarily knocked out or as I like to call it, a nuke coma as he was later awakened by nuclear radiation.  He sleeps in the lava unharmed, tanks amplified beams from a mirror that absorbs and redirects atomic breath and, well, amplifies it, he melts diamond, tanks a 90 meter diameter impact event, though in the water at the time of the impact, and of course, battles Space Godzilla at full power and survives the ordeal. This version of the king was also the first to recieve the red spiral ray, an amplified and more affective beam of atomic energy that ends lives! Ask Space Godzilla, except...you can't. He's too busy being dead! Heisei Godzilla is a power house! Nuff said.

Burning Godzilla Aka: Final Heisei Godzilla:

Height: 100 Meters

Length: 212.5 Meters

Weight: 60,000 Tons

Powers and Abilities: Though still technically Heisei, this "state" of Godzilla's condition brought about unfathomable levels of power. Stated by an expert on Godzilla's biology, the creature was so critically unstable that his meltdown would pierce through the crust of the earth reaching all the way to the planets core, thus destabilizing it and destroying the planet. With his power levels raging dangerously out of control the king's primary weapon, the atomic breath was replaced by the far more powerful red spiral ray as his basic method of attack. It is at this climax of Godzilla's life cycle that he is confronted by a demon from the past, the evil monster forged from the oxygen destroyer itself and arguably his greatest opponent, Destroyah! In the battle that ensued Godzilla displayed overwhelming power through use of his atomic energy blasts, tearing through Destroyah's flesh, forcing the monster to spit out blood and screams of agony. We also get to see this Burning giant utilize his powerful nuclear pulse ability to stave off Destroyah's attempt to overwhelm him in sheer numbers when he seperated into his smaller crab forms and began annoying the king with micro oxygen injections that only served to irritate the skin. In addition to raw power his regen was quick enough to almost instantly seal the wounds he recieved from Destroyah's devastating horned katana. Though Destroyah matched Godzilla physically and won most of those exchanges he was ultimately no match for Godzilla's wrath and fell before the kings feet, powerless to escape what came next. There's nothing more terrifying than a blood lusted Godzilla about to avenge his youngling's death. Just ask Destroyah! Oh wait. Thats right...you can't :]

Millennium Godzilla

Height: 55-60 Meters

Length: 122.5-120 Meters

Weight: 25,000-30,000 Tons

Powers and Abilities: All three of these early 2000 versions of the king have some pretty outstanding feats on their plates. Godzilla 2000, the first of this batch displayed the most impressive use of the nuclear pulse ability in attempt to halt Orga's over eating habbit dead in it's tracks. The resulting explosion is still the largest one produced from that attack today. It even finished off the downgraded Godzilla clone despite the creature's accelerated healing factor. This version of the king was even able to hold his own in a completely physical encounter with Orga, managing to floor the larger brute and tear away at it's face with his tail a few times. The Godzilla that followed in Godzilla vs Megaguirus was something of a walking reality marble as the known laws of, well, "things" did not apply to him. By the way, when I say "things" I mean artificial black holes fired from the Dimension Tide. His atomic breath was so "special" that it disrrupted the black hole and he ultimately survives the aftermath. Even still, he could launch himself above his foe and body press it into submission, and if that isn't enough he can use his tail to grab his enemie's tail and guide said enemie's face into the floor. Thats what happened to Megaguirus in the film, she was taken by surprise by Godzilla's tail and the end result was a head planted firmly into the ground. Oh, and before I forget, it was two black holes, he managed to survive two. Um, what? But wait! Theres more! In Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, the king once again isn't taking no for an answer. Kiryu's ultimate attack, the absolute zero cannon is fired at Godzilla point blank, freezing the water in place. You'd think that would be the end of it until the crystalized formation shatters revealing a scarred but very alive Godzilla in it's center. First of all. To even be able to break out of a prison of ice at absolute zero, no, you can't...but he did it anyway. Finally, we have the ghost Godzilla that is Godzilla GMK. He can absorb the souls of the defeated gaurdians, cause small mushroom clouds with his atomic breath, see behind him, or something to that effect as he was able to pwn-whip Mothra with his tail while drinking KG's tears from his throat area. You guys know the scene. It was bad. He also displayed some level of energy absorption as he was able to channel the gathered electricity from KG's attacks into his atomic breath and send it smack dab into the golden dragon's chest, blowing that up and everything else. It's also hinted that this Godzilla has some form of immortality, both through his established lore as a reoccurring spiritual manifestation and by use of the final scene of the movie that featured his beating heart at the ocean's floor after he pretty much nuked himself from the inside out. I guess in the early 2000's Toho was keen on having some Marvel/DC levels of retarded show up in their Godzilla films as far as his feats go.

Final Wars Godzilla:

Height: 100 Meters

Length: 100 Meters

Weight: 55,000 Tons

Powers and Abilities: The final japanese version of the king, FW Godzilla is a slimmer return to the more tradition look, but thats not all. Godzilla's hand to hand fighting skills also appear to be used by this incarnation of the character and in conjunction with the insane strength he can summon to toss a spider a few miles into the sun set, and by spider I mean Kumonga of course, its easy to see why this Godzilla is a fighter. His atomic breath nearly auto kills every kaiju it hits, sometimes sending larger enemies burning into the stratosphere, ie. KG, but only after his Gotengo powerup. Did I mention he has the throwback red spiral ray? Well he does. Thats what he uses to help KG into the upper part of the ozone layer before frying him to a crisp. On top of that this Godzilla has tanked a speeding kaiju sized planetoid to the face before immediately engadging in battle with Monster X, the monster who rode said planetoid into Godzilla in the first place; Godzilla managed to move the Xillian mothership with his atomic breath, shoot two kaiju (Hedorah and Ebarah) and a couple of buildings back into Tokyo with the same level of atomic breath and engadged in beam clashes that resulted in explosions that make a kaiju of his size look like a grain of sand.

Legendary Godzilla aka Godzilla 2014:

Height: 108.2 Meters

Length: 167.7 Meters

Weight: 90,000 Tons

Powers and Abilities: Fresh out of his food coma and ready to kick some Muto tail is the latest incarnation of the king of monsters, a beast who survived all attempts on his life during the nuclear "tests" in the pacific and currently holds the record for the tallest surviving creature from the prehistoric age as he apparently felt the need to tank the astroid involved in ending that era for good as revealed in the Godzilla Awakening graphic novel. Unlike the older versions of the king, this Godzilla is far more primal than ever before, not using hand to hand combat but instead biting and choking - just tearing with his claws like an animal. He also seems to have suffered terribly from over use of anabolic supplements as his steroid ravaged body enables him to plow through bridges and eat the punishment while being fired upon by america's naval vessels. Okay, he's not really on steroids, it just looks that way. Did I mention that when he arrives to a party he floods the surrounding area, like with a tsunami, what else? He did it to Waikiki's beach in the film and he'll likely do it again the next time a Muto shows up top side uninvited. This big G has shown us that he can eat all manners of damage while dishing out some serious retaliation with a side of pain, like that time he overpowered the larger female Muto and helped her to the ground gently before rage stomping her in front of Hokmuto. It was a brutal scene but it showed the viewers just how serious this Godzilla can be. I dare say I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to eat her alive while she struggled to get back up. In addition to what we know about his durability in the first half of the film we also get to see Godzilla impail Hokmuto against a building twice his size like a bug and walk off the resulting collapse of said structure coming down on him, albeit after a quick power nap. The last thing I'll mention here is the finishing blow Godzilla dealt to the female Muto. As amazing as her death was, I was more interested in the fact that he knew applying his atomic breath to her insides via her mouth would end her, the fiery blast of course tearing her nap and the rest of her neck apart - freeing her head from her shoulders just in time for Godzilla to strike a menacing pose while roaring in truimph. This Godzilla was no light weight by any stetch of the imagination and he wasted no time in making an example out of his enemies for those foolish enough to challenge him in the upcoming sequel. Yes, all that was just for them. Get ready, the king has returned!

So far, that's a basic outline of well known feats between all these versions of the king. If anyone has info that I missed feel free to present it in the comment section below, trust me, the help is welcomed. In the end, its not up to me to decide who the superior Godzilla is, that's up to you all. I've merely provided a basis we can build on. So please, share your thoughts! Lets get this thing going!

Final Wars I think is the one Godzilla to rule them all if one is to acept that as canon.

Personally, I take only a few of the Showa era movies to be canon, the rest folklore/apocryphal/legend. I can gain some continuity in the first few movies in the Showa era, during Heisei era  certain things changed that I wasn't very found of, like the origin of Ghidorah and Godzilla in Godzilla vs Ghidorah.

Final Wars though for the sake of argument in my view.

@Kage432- Very well constructed article, I can tell that it is thought out and you spent a good amount of time making it, Good Job!

Now, I believe that burning godzilla was the most superior. Sure he was a walking nuclear meltdown but I guarantee he could defeat any foe in this incarnation. I mean when ever he fired his atomic breath it was the tri-beam!

Very nice. If I may recommend:

I feel like the Millennium Godzillas all need to be separated, especiailly if they're from different timelines. For example I wouldn't assume the Godzilla from Godzilla 2000 had the same physical capabilities as the one from Godzilla x Megaguirus who could jump into the air and body slam. He seemed a little more subdued. And, of course, the GMK is vastly different from the others.

I'd also go ahead an include the 1954 Godzilla, since he's clearly not the same creature in he rest of the Showa series and the 2014 Godzilla. We know enough about him by now.

I don't wish to use the first godzilla here as he is largely featless in comparrison to the rest of the G's I'm using. I understand that this is a thread aimed at finding the strongest version of the character but even so, I don't wish to turn this into a spite stomp.

In order I think as far as just straight up powerful:

#1: Burning G. His meltdown could've caused an Moon sized explosion and destroyed the earth, or he could've turned into a fireball and melt a hole into the earth causing the core to overreact. Other than those two he was powerful when fighting destroyah.

#2: Final Wars G. Not because of him defeating all the monsters in a matter of a minute. I felt that was the movie being rushed rather than him being powerful.... But the reason he gains #2 is because of his atonic breath he used to try to attempt to stop Monster X's comet. Holy crap.

#3: GMK G. Only two shots from his atomic breath and you're done. Not to mention how freaking durable he is, jeez couldn't hardly penetrate that skin

#4 G2000. His atomic pulse I believe could've wiped out half of Tokyo but because of Orga basically being a giant blanket of the blast and exploding I think it kept Tokyo from being in major damage. His skin is also durable as hell. But what makes it even more interesting is how mysteriously powerful he really is, this G came off as mysterious in my opinion.

#5 G2014. Not that the movie gave away good hard evidence of his stature, I think because of his sure mass and deadly tactics much like how a bear or a wrestler fights. He uses his jaws a lot more often than the rest of the G's. Not to mention his "Mortal Kombat" inspired fatalities.

#6 G54. The original Godzilla will always be in my opinion the strongest G in the showa series. Although G75 comes close just for the fact he took on MechaG and Titanosaurs by himself

@kage432,

lol sorry if i sounded rude but i know that everyone has a favorite godzilla incarnation and like to argue which is the most powerful and everything, but i mean godzilla is truly godzilla in every film right? Unless we are talking about the tragedy of 1998 O_O

Since we are talking about the one true godzilla, i think it is safe to say that he is "KING OF THE MONSTERS." :D

I think Legendary Godzilla is the superior Godzilla. After seeing the movie I find him as the strongest and most powerful Godzilla ever. In my opinion of course.

This is much more well constructed than my own thread about this topic. When it comes to the Godzilla's, power isn't everything as some people seem to be using to class their judgements.

#1 (G-2014)- Knowledge is power, some say, and this Godzilla definitely had his fair stacking of knowledge, as well as cunning, outright brute strength, durability and sheer vicious attitude. The sheer ferocity of this Goji, combined with his intelligence, gives him an edge over every other Goji that they couldn't even dream of.

#2 (Burning Goji)- Arising as the most atomicly powerful of every Godzilla, BG was a force to be reckoned with. Had it not been for Destoroyah and the JSDF, he would have destroyed the world. Though, his overall knowledge and cunning are questionable.

#3 (FinalGoji)- Who can jog the world and slay dozens of kaiju without breaking a sweat? This Goji definitely could, and did. Being the most durable in terms of endurance and the sheer amoutn of punishment he could take is probably his only saving grace in my view.

#4 (GMKGoji)- Sheer malicious intent combined with murderous intent and mixed in with Godzilla, and you have this beer-gut wonder. This Goji is the evilest thing ever to grace the Godzilla series, bar Ghidorah. The only reason he fell is because of the combined might of human and kaiju forces, with the kaiju forces being COMPLETELY obliterated.

#5 (ShowaGoji)- With the tenacity of a pair of pliers welded to a steel beam, this Goji sports a durability capable of taking the nastiest of the nasty wounds. This Goji's best quality is his inability to give up, going as far as to propel himself through the air with his atomic breath to chase down Hedorah (I had to rewatch that scene three times to make sure I was still watching a Godzilla movie).

Ah, opinions and debate. :)

Deviation is not shameful. Conforming is.

Godzilla is Godzilla to me no matter which Godzilla it is, although LegendaryGoji is my favourite.

Atomic Breath: Burning or Final Wars( possibly LegendaryGoji because his atomic breath may not have been at its full potential)

Hand to Hand: LegendaryGoji

Durability: All (Godzilla survived pressure between tectonic plates and being submerged in lava for years, but LegendaryGoji survived both the Permian and Dinosaur Asteroids so all Godzilla's are even)

Design: ShodaiGoji and LegendaryGoji (Both are awesome)

Overall: Shodai and Legendary, both were awesome, entertaining, and realistic. If those 2 had to fight, there would be no loser.

Remember that chap, I forget his name, he climbed Everest without any oxygen, came down nearly dead. They asked him, they said, "Why did you go up there to die?" He said, "I didn't, I went up there to live."

#1 Would be GMK Godzilla, aside from that menacing look we all know he kicked Ghidorah's butt.

#2 Final Wars Goji- He kicked every monsters' a**.

#3 Millenium Goji- Godzilla as a biological nuke. nuff said.

#4 Legendary's Goji- We'll we didn't know much about him yet that is why we NEED A SEQUEL. I mean RIGHT NOW!

Sorry if I sounded rude :D I'm just hyped! lol

Each Godzilla iteration has something going for it that it's better at than others.

Showa - extensive intelligence and advanced fighting styles, along with a "do or die" attitude that never accepts defeat

Heisei - the strongest ranged firepower of all, as well as some level of intelligence and great durability

1999 - regenerative factors, and a knack for some brute force and creative approaches

2000 - a knack for perseverence and straight forward approach, somewhat oddly capable agility-wise :D

GMK - extremely aggressive and unrelenting, heavy durability and mystical back-up

Kiryu Saga - nothing special DX

Final Wars - an all-around mixed bag of ranged firepower, durability, speed, tactics, and martial arts

Legendary - great durability and strength, great ferocity, some strategery, and a wildcard trick-up-the-sleeve yet to be fully seen

I think that's the order in strength, durability, and overall power.
